The history behind the name
Dover Furnace takes its name from the 35 ft stone furnace that sits on the property. Built in 1881 as an iron smelter, the furnace was part of a once vibrant and important industry; records indicate iron ore was mined around the town of Dover as early as 1750. However do not think the shooting grounds are rooted in the past. Dover Furnace utilizes a long-range wireless key system with both prepaid and pay as you shoot options available. It’s a state-of-the-art system that insures you only get charged for the targets you pull. Meticulously maintained grounds, an experienced and well-trained staff and a storied history make Dover Furnace Shooting Grounds the perfect place to break more than a few clays.
