BERETTA 500 YEARS OF PASSION
In 1526, Mastro Bartolomeo Beretta of Gardone received payment for 185 arquebus barrels sold to the
Arsenal of Venice. This is the earliest surviving documentation for the company called Beretta. For
almost 500 years Beretta has been known for its commitment to quality and excellence. Today that same
dedication to fine craftsmanship is skillfully combined with state-of-the-art manufacturing methods to
produce a vast range of field, competition and military firearms. While continuing its tradition as one
of the world’s most famous firearms manufacturers, the Beretta brand now includes field sports
accessories and apparel, as well as six retail galleries around the world. Throughout this expansion the
commitment to quality and excellence remain the bedrock of the company and an unchanging key to
Beretta’s worldwide success. Handed down through fifteen generations of the Beretta family, today the
business is run by Caviliere Ugo Gussalli Beretta and his sons, Pietro and Franco.
"DARE IN BROCCA" While visiting the residence of poet Gabriele D'Annunzzio in the
early 1920s, Pier Giuseppe Beretta stumbled across a marble carving in the gardens of
"Vittoriale". It was to make a lasting impression on the young Beretta. He greatly admired
its beauty, but was struck by the precision and quality of the carving. Pier realized the
stone was the perfect example of the perfection he demanded for everything made at the
Beretta factory, and so became the inspiration for the Beretta Trident logo of today.
